Why Does It Seem Like Everyone’s More Successful Than Me?

Picture this – you’re scrolling through your Facebook or Instagram feed. You find out that your peers are achieving milestone after milestone. It makes you feel slightly…. jealous. It’s a bitter pill to swallow. Sure, you’re not dying of jealousy, but you’d like a few achievements yourself. So you end up asking yourself, what am I doing wrong? Why am I not as successful as them? What’s wrong with me?

Let me tell you, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. Here are a few things you need to keep in mind which might give you the answers you’re looking for.

The Grass is Always Greener

Remember that there will always be someone prettier/handsomer, more successful and richer than you. When you accept this fact, you’ll start understanding that comparisons are futile. What matters is that you’re you and no one else can be you. You’re special in your own way. If you keep competing with people in your timeline, keep in mind that there are 7 billion people in the world. Don’t you think it’d be exhausting to compare ourselves with all of them? You’re only human. So how do you tackle this feeling of envy? The answer lies in the next point.

Be-grateful

Be thankful

Instead of feeling angry or grumpy about what you don’t have, why not be grateful for the things you do have? Celebrate your successes, no matter how little they are. Jealousy takes up a lot of energy, so it’s better for your own health that you begin every single day by being thankful. Don’t have anything to be thankful for? Then…

Change your situation

As they say – “If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree.” If you’re in a situation where you’re unhappy, take efforts to make it better. Find out why things aren’t going well for you. When you figure out the problem, you’ll figure out the solution to it.

Life is not a race

This is the most important thing to remember. We’re all on different journeys facing different struggles. How can you possibly pit yourself against someone whose life is way different from yours? It’s unfair to you. Here’s another point to think about – what is “success” to you, might not be their idea of success and vice versa. Social media sites like Instagram and Facebook are where people post their highlight reels, so you never know how much they’ve had to struggle to reach a certain point of success. It’s essential to keep the big picture in mind too.

Right time

There’s always a right time for everything and your right time will come. Keep faith, believe in yourself and put in all your hard work. Sooner or later, it will come to fruition. All you need to do is keep your eyes on your aim and work tirelessly towards it.

So, next time you wonder “Why does everyone seem to be more successful than me?”, I hope you come back to this article to give you the answer. Please share this with your friends who might need some positivity and don’t forget to give your opinions in the comments below 🙂
