How To Build A Positive Attitude

The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.”

A positive attitude is very important in life. A positive attitude will change the way you look at things and hence, will change you as a person. Positive thinking makes you a better you. Your thought processes can change from negative, depressed ones to calm and collected ones. Your anxiety and panic levels decrease too. Positive thinking can help improve your health. In today’s world of intense competition and stress I think this topic holds a lot of importance. We are all looking for positivity everywhere – and that’s where twitter stands out. Twitter is a place where SO many people exude positive vibes and hence make you feel better about yourself. So from what I’ve learned, here are some points how you can build a positive attitude in life:

Think Good Thoughts: Our own thoughts have a great impact on our thinking. Try to get rid of whatever negative thoughts you have (about yourself and others) and think positive, good, thoughts. Do things you love to do, start your day with a smile. Such little things can make a great difference.

Look at the brighter side of things: In life we come across many situations where we compare ourselves to others and hence, get depressed to see what they have and we don’t. Instead of feeling sad about such things, think of how lucky and blessed you have been in your life. Comparing with others gives no happiness. Look at what you have and be happy in it and work hard to achieve what you want.

Take good things from negative criticism: Don’t get upset or angry because someone said something negative about you or your work. First see if what they are saying is valid or not. Check if it is constructive criticism. If yes, accept it and work harder the next time around. If not, just ignore it. If you retaliate rudely, there will be no difference left between them and you. As @RuhaniRabin once tweeted, “Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you – not because they are nice, but because YOU are.”

Avoid indulging in any kind of negative influences: Avoid negative speech about others and yourself. Speak good things. Stay away from bad company. Stay with people who will support you and help you rise. Make friends with people who help you grow intellectually. Make changes in your life. Promote and demote people. Only then you will have a circle of people you can truly trust.

Believe in yourself:  Build your self-worth. Low self confidence can be highly stressful. Your mind thinks scary things when you have a feeling of inferiority complex. Get rid of such feelings right away. Remember, each person is special and unique in their own way. Each person exists because they have something great to add to the universe.

Make someone smile: Making someone smile can make you smile too. It’s a fantastic feeling when you know that someone is happy and the reason is you! Try to make someone smile everyday and YOU will be happy too.

Help others, practice kindness:  Kindness is free and the feeling you get is priceless! A little bit of kindness goes a long way. In whatever little way you can, be kind to others.

Be thankful: “Some people can’t see the good things in what they have, until what they have is gone. Don’t be one of them, stay grateful!” It’s simple: Be thankful, be happy.

A positive attitude can make a huge difference in how you behave, how you think, and how you feel. What do you think? 🙂 Share your thoughts in the comments!

  1. Great article! I think it’s too easy to think negatively and so I tend to do it by default. It’s worth remembering that it makes a positive impact to think positively. Thanks! I’ll retweet.

  3. Nicky,

I’m new to twitter, looking for “quality” posts, loved your entry on positive thinking. With my clients one of the first things I ask them to try is to be grateful for the day no matter what it brings…it’s a very high vibrational emotion.

    Best,
    Martha
