20 Fulfilling Things To Do Before You Die
I have always been fascinated by ‘Things To Do Before You Die’ articles. I felt like they put unnecessary pressure on me to do completely crazy things. I mean, a human can only do so much in their life, right? For some, bungee jumping or sky-diving is the ultimate thrill, but not for me. Does that mean that if you didn’t do all of the things mentioned there, your life wasn’t good enough? That would be a resounding no.
Life is short but it’s enough if you know what to do and how to live it well. Death is inevitable and we’re all mortals. We have short-term, long-term goals and dreams in life and a not-so-perfect plan to make it happen. Sure, things do not go as planned sometimes, but what we can do is brush ourselves off and stand tall again.
So here are 20 things that I feel are achievable ‘things to do before you die’ list items for a fulfilling life, in no particular order.
20. Learn an instrument
Is there an instrument you’ve always dreamed of playing solo in an auditorium reverberating in applause? Guitar, piano, violin or the tabla? It’s never too late to make it happen. Join a good class and start making beautiful music.
19. Travel alone
There’s something very calming and thrilling about travelling alone, especially in a foreign country. But make sure you’re safe at all times and have researched the place very well!
18. Travel with friends
Anyone who has traveled with friends has come back home with the strangest and funniest stories to tell. If you have a group of friends you’re extremely close to, a backpacking trip will definitely give you memories for a lifetime.
17. Travel with your significant other
Travelling with someone you love can do great things for your relationship. Alone time with your other half will give you plenty of time to get to know them even better.
16. Find a hobby
Collecting coins from different countries, fishing, painting, singing etc, whatever it is that you like, find your hobby and do more of it.
15. Make money and save/invest wisely
In today’s world, it is very important to SAVE and invest your hard-earned money. Be wise and work hard to make enough money for your desired kind of lifestyle.
14. Experience nature
Witness amazing sunsets, snow-capped mountains, bathe in a waterfall, have a cup of hot coffee or tea as it rains outside and more. Life is too stressful some times, don’t forget to enjoy the nature we are blessed to have!
13. Make someone happy
The happiness you get by making someone else happy is indescribable. Call up your grandma with whom you haven’t talked to in a while, make a hand-made card for someone, tell someone you love them – there are many ways to make someone happy.
12. Learn a new language
Nothing like becoming a student again and learning the ABCs of a completely new language. Find a language that you feel like you are capable and interested to learn and join classes right away. Your brain will thank you for it.
11. Volunteer
Animal shelter, old age home, anything. Just volunteer for something and you’ll see what a great difference it makes in your life.
10. Audition for something
Don’t take yourself too seriously! Go ahead and audition for something. Don’t hold back thinking that you’ll make a fool out of yourself. Just try. Who knows what might come from it as a result?
9. Go to a concert
It doesn’t have to be an expensive artists’ concert. You could even support a local band for their live gigs happening in your area. Music is awesome, enjoy it to the fullest.
8. Learn to drive
Learn to drive, choose to drive safely always and experience the magic of a road trip.
7. Learn to draw
You don’t need to be an artist to grab a pencil or a marker and just start doodling. If you’re thinking of getting seriously skilled, practice a lot or join art classes. Art is very therapeutic!
6. Learn to swim
I learned to swim earlier this year and it makes me so happy. It combines exercise and relaxation, what more could you ask for?
5. Create something
Create a comic, create a video, create a film. Heck, create a baby if you want!
4. Write a story
Your hidden J. K. Rowling might just come up with some seamlessly woven intricate story lines. If not, write non-fiction!
3. Get a pet!
Pets are notorious for being compassionate little creatures. When they run towards you in utmost happiness on seeing you is a feeling that is out of this world. I cannot guarantee this if your pet is a snake though!
2. Donate
You can donate money, clothes, blood and so much more for various causes, NGOs and research facilities. Keep the donation of your eyes, skin and internal organs for ‘Things To Do After You Die’.
